Performance Air Filters
K&N
Filters - performance panel filters.
On any car the filter
car is the first point at which air is drawn into the engine and
just like the exhaust, the original manufacturer set ups usually
do a fairly good job of providing a restriction to gas flow and
any restriction to gas flow will impede performance and economy.
There are various ways to overcome this and unleash extra brake
horse power from the engine. Firstly you can keep the standard
intake system and replace the standard filter element
with a K&N element.
The original equipment air filters are made
of paper and whilst do a good job of filtering the incoming air
of foreign bodies, it doesn't flow particularly well. K&N
Performance filter elements are made using either
cotton gauze or a foam type filter. Either of these types
of filter will flow far better than a paper filter and
in many applications will improve power. The filter itself however
may not be the entirety of the restriction, as the design of how
the air travel to, through, and from the filter can also play
a part in how well gas flows from the atmosphere through to the
throttle body.
Go green!
Don't forget
that with a guarantee of 1 million miles you are also stopping
waste - imagine how many cars have a new paper air filter at least
once a year. There are 17 Million cars registered on the road
in the UK so allowing for differing service schedules that
is roughly 20 million air standard paper air filters
per year! It is not possible to recycle standard paper filters
so they all end up in landfill, so imagine the environmental benefit
if each car had a K&N, that's a lot of hole saved!!
Cost saving?
If your car breaths better, it can do more
work easier - you are not choking your engine. You could notice
an increase in your MPG - more noticeable when used in conjunction
with one of our free
flowing stainless steel exhausts. Another point of note is
the cost. A panel filter for your car may cost around £40
against perhaps £15 for a standard filter, however if you
keep your car say 5 years you will have spent £40 on a K&N
and £75 on standard paper filters, that is almost a 50%
saving!
Insurance problems?
None - true most insurance companies like
to be informed of an induction
kit, as you are effectively changing the entire air intake
system of the car and completely removing the standard air box
etc, but a K&N panel filter is simply a direct replacement
element and will not effect your insurance or any warranty you
may have on your car.
So benefit's summary....
More BHP, better economy, better for the
environment and more financial sense. If a panel filter
